8.30am – start your morning off slow and easy with the help of a hot cup of coffee from the Tassimo coffee machine in your Aaron Wise apartment kitchen.
9.00am – Enjoy a leisurely walk up Fitzhamon Embankment alongside the River Taff with the incredible Principality Stadium on your right. Before you cross the river, be sure to take in the famous landmark that has celebrated the biggest names in sporting history.
9.30am – Make your way through the beautiful, historic arcades of Cardiff and make yourself comfy in the bustling, award winning café, The Plan. The gourmet café boasts some of the best coffee in the city and their fresh, seasonal meals will give you the perfect start to a wonderful day.
10.30am – With your stomach full of speciality coffee and delicious food, now is the time to explore the wonders that the Cardiff arcades hold.
Pop around the corner and visit Spillers Records for a trip back in time. The vintage store holds all the music you could ever need, and the classic vinyl records will give any music fan a buzz. Keeping in the vintage theme, visit the independent vintage clothing store Hobo’s for some retro fashion. Covering a variety of styles and designs, Hobo’s is a cult favourite and promotes the individuality and creativity that Cardiff is built upon.
1.00pm – With the arcades fully explored, stop in at Wally’s for a delicious meal. Downstairs holds an incredible delicatessen with a mouthwatering array of sweet and savoury treats. Before loading up on nibbles to take back to your Aaron Wise apartment, head upstairs for lunch.
Wally’s Kaffeehaus uses the ingredients it sells in its deli, so everything on the menu is rich and hearty with flavour. Whether you choose a smoked Black Forest ham, onion coated salami, Cambazola cheese, and gooseberry and coriander chutney open sandwich, or a Hot Frikadellen with Emmental cheese served with dill pickles, curry ketchup, mild German mustard, Polish Sauerkraut and a pretzel roll – you won’t be disappointed.
2.00pm – Take a short stroll back to the apartment to drop your treats off in the fridge before heading back into the city. Walk the opposite way along the river and towards Cardiff Castle. Take the opportunity to explore the history of Wales through the magnificent historic architecture, with guides telling stories of great rulers and dragons.
3.30pm – With castles and dragons slain, take an hour to wander through the stunning grounds of Bute Park. No matter the weather, the iconic Cardiff site is bright with colour and vibrancy.
Take your time exploring the beautiful scenery that makes up Bute Park. No matter the season, the Cardiff favourite is always lush with life. After a gentle stroll through the gardens, make your way to the Secret Garden Café. Adjacent to the Bute Park Education Centre, the café offers an exquisite outdoor setting and the quiet courtyard terrace is surrounded by climbing roses, grass lawns and flowers; the perfect setting for an afternoon cup of tea.
5.30pm – Pressed between bars and nightclubs is a little taste of Cuban culture. Stop by Revolucion De Cuba for dinner and peruse over the wide and delectable range of tapas. The colourful menu is the perfect way to end a fantastic day, and if you have a cocktail or two, it’s just a fifteen-minute walk back to the apartment.
